LOWVILLE – William E. “Bill” Hill, 66, of Number Four Road, died Saturday morning, January 28, 2017 at his home.

A “Celebration of Life” reception will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Lowville American Legion Post #162 at 1:00 p.m.  Contributions may be made to the Lewis County Search and Rescue, 7782 W. State St., Lowville, NY 13367; or to Lowville Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 81, Lowville, NY  13367.

He is survived by his wife of over 36 years, Pamela; two daughters, Sarah and Nick Platt of Lowville; Amy Hill and Chad Rogers of Lowville; a son, William and Karin Hill of Kingston, MA; two sisters, Jo Anne and Frank Murphy of Lowville; Betty Griswold of Glenfield; ten grandchildren, Maison, Brooke, Annabelle, Lillie, Nadine, Garrett, Courtney, Owen, Colby and Bryce; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He is predeceased by his older brother, Butch Hill; and a brother-in-law, Robert Griswold, Sr.

Bill was born on May 6, 1950 in Watertown, NY, a son of the late Emmett and Marjorie Stoddard Hill.  He grew up in Stillwater and graduated from Lowville Academy in 1969.  On May 4, 1980, he married Pamela Manchester at Stillwater Reservoir.  Bill worked for the New York State Department of Transportation from 1979 until his retirement in 2005.Bill was a member of B.P.O.E. #1605, Lowville Elks Lodge.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing cards, playing the lottery and scratch off tickets, and loved being in Stillwater on the flow.

His grandchildren were the sparkle in his eyes.  He loved them unconditionally.
