Joan Collins LaPlace

LOWVILLE – Joan Collins LaPlace, 84, of Brookside Circle, passed away May 4, 2016 at Upstate University Hospital, Syracuse.

In keeping with her wishes there will be no calling hours.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date on Long Island.  Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.

She is survived by her children, Maude Walsh of Point Lookout, NY; Donald LaPlace and Barb Prievo of Carthage, NY; Margot and Christopher Murray of Setauket, NY; six grandchildren, Mark Walsh, Faith, Molly, Elizabeth, Honora, and Maggie Murray; nieces, nephews and cousins.  She is predeceased by her brother, Jack Collins.

Joan was born on November 27, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY, a daughter of the late Daniel and Josephine Lahey Collins.  She worked for St. Raymond’s Parish, and later for the Diocese of Rockville Center, NY, until her retirement in 1999.  Joan moved to Brookside Senior Living Community in 2014, where she felt embraced by her friends and the staff there.

Joan loved to travel.  She was an avid reader, and enjoyed socializing.  Most of all, Joan enjoyed spending time with her family.  She was a clever, quick witted, generous woman, who will be sorely missed by all.
