Joan, whether at Maude's home during the holidays, parties or at various pubs in Rockville Centre you always made the Cavanaugh's feel a part of your family.
We always enjoyed your quick wit and point of view on politics, travel and the horses!
You were always the life of the party and we made sure we had ring side seats near you!
You will be sorely missed but treasured in our hearts!

Joanie, Whether it was sitting at your farmhouse table on Lawson, or in Maudes PL house , or at Churchills, our conversations always made me laugh and think, and look at the world from your unique perspective. I've know you for a lot of years, and we shared a lot of beers, and maybe even a few tears! I will miss your wit, Kenny -your intelligent conversations, and Kerry- enjoying Christmas parties with you! We love you Joanie, may you rest in peace!

Joan sat at the same dinner table at Brookside as my father and I had the wonderful opportunity to share several meals and conversations with her. Although I didn't know her well, she struck me as a very informed, very pleasant, and classy lady. My father spoke of her often and will miss her company. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Grandma,
You were one of a kind. You helped shape who I am today, and were one of my earliest role models. I have so many memories that I cherish. Love always, Mark.

A gentlewoman with the rare quality of humor and quick wit, balanced with the love for her own sacred quiet. She was an encyclopedic resource, and poetic and literary genius. She never ceased to imprint a memorable diddy, quote or poetic musing and she had a rich love for life and the simple, elegant joys of this world. I loved just sitting and smoking cigarettes with you. Thank you for leaving me with a beacon of all that remains strong in the female bone, and the reminder to live that to the marrow. I love you forever and always. Cheers to you, kiddo. XOXO Faith

Grandma, we will miss your sharp sense of humor, wit, intelligence, playing card games (although we used to be cheating trolls) and much more aspiring features we all admired and adored. We love you to infinity and miss you a tremendous amount already.

Joan was the most dynamic person I've ever met. We could sit for hours in Adirondack chairs in the summer sun discussing a myriad of topics. I learned so much from our conversations. I will miss her wit, her charm, and her company.
