Troy A. Chartrand

CROGHAN -  Troy Alan Chartrand, 41, formerly of the Erie Canal Road, died Monday of complications from cerebral palsy. 

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from 6 - 9 p.m. at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.  Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church Cemetery, Croghan.  A memorial mass will immediately follow the burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, with Rev. Donald J. Manfred, Pastor, officiating.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen’s Catholic Church Restoration Fund, P.O. Box 38, Croghan, NY  13327.

He is survived by his parents, Charles and Bessie; four brothers, Darin and Michele of Massena; James and Briana of Copenhagen; Shawn and Kelly of Verona; Andrew and Jessie of Croghan; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.  He is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Gerald and Doris Chartrand, and his maternal grandparents, Ernest and Dorothy Steria.

Troy was born April 23, 1975, in Lowville, the son of Charles and Bessie Steria Chartrand.  He graduated from Black River School while he was a special education student in Beaver River Central School system.  He later attended the Castorland Day Habilitation Program.

He was a resident of the Faith Based Upstate Cerebral Palsy Home on Waters Rd., Lowville, since it opened in 2005.

Troy enjoyed life to the fullest, in spite of his disability, and always had a smile for everyone.  His family would like to give a special Thank-You to the Upstate Cerebral Palsy House in Lowville, for all their tender loving care over the last eleven years.
