Peter J. Leichtweis

LOWVILLE – Peter J. Leichtweis, 39, of Lowville, died after a lengthy illness, Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Utica.  A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Lowville, with Pastor Brian Olmstead officiating.   Calling hours are from 1 – 3 p.m., prior to the funeral service, at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Jacob Leichtweis Scholarship Fund, c/o Community Bank, N.A., 7395 Turin Road, Lowville, NY 13367.

He is survived by his parents, Thomas and Constance Leichtweis, a sister and her husband, Courtney and Michael Heim of Morrisville, his maternal grandmother Marie Makuch of Denmark, his paternal grandparents, Gerald and Janis Leichtweis of Lowville. He worshiped his niece, Allison, and nephew, Jacob. Peter is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins.  He is predeceased by a brother, Jacob Thomas Leichtweis, who died February 21, 2009; and by his maternal grandfather, Peter Makuch.

Peter was born on March 22, 1976 in Lowville, a son of Thomas A. and Constance J. Makuch Leichtweis.  He graduated from Lowville Academy in 1995. Peter enjoyed cooking and spending time with his friends. He adored his late grandfather Peter Makuch.
