Mary J. "Janie" (Patchen) Widrick

GLENFIELD – Mary J.”Janie” Widrick, 83, of Otter Creek Road, passed away early Monday morning, August 28, 2017 at the Croghan Adult Care Facility, where she was under the loving care of the staff, her family and Lewis County Hospice.  

The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.  Calling hours are from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., prior to the funeral service, at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in West Lowville Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Box 266, Lowville, NY 13367; or to Croghan Adult Care Facility, 9837 State Route 812, Croghan, NY 13327.

She is survived by four children and their spouses, Rickey E. and Nancy Widrick of Glenfield; Sandy K. and Lynn Zehr of New Bremen; Shelly A. and Zyggi Kolenda of Florence, Arizona; Sherry L. and George Marriam of Watertown; a brother, Donald Patchen of Watertown; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren & 3 more to join us; a brother-in-law, Ronald Norton of Lowville; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Paul Jantzi of Lowville; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She is predeceased by her husband Edwin, who died on September 1, 2011; a sister, Ellen Farrell, and a brother, Robert Patchen.  She is also predeceased by many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Mrs. Widrick was born on June 22, 1934, a daughter of the late Nathan and Eda Wadsworth Patchen.  She graduated from Evans Mills High School.  On November 29, 1952, she married Edwin J. Widrick at Lowville United Methodist Church.  The couple took over the Widrick family farm and together they owned and operated the farm for many years.  Mr. and Mrs. Widrick owned and operated the Le-Hav Motel in West Lowville from 1974 until 2007, when the couple retired. 

Together with her husband, they enjoyed entertaining friends, playing cards and snowmobiling.  Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
