LOWVILLE – Isabel A. Stanton, 89, of East State Street, Lowville, passed away Thursday morning, November 10, 2016 at her home, under the loving care of her family and Lewis County Hospice. 

A funeral Mass will be said at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 14, 2016 at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Houseville, with Rev. Christopher Carrara, Pastor, officiating.  Family and friends are welcome to attend a luncheon at St. Hedwig’s Church Fellowship Hall immediately following the Mass.  Burial will be at a later date in Lowville Rural Cemetery.  Calling hours are from 4 – 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Box 266, Lowville, NY; or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105-1942.

She is survived by her 11 children and their spouses, Gregory Stanton of Lowville; Deborah and Richard Forsyth of Carthage; Gretchen and Thomas Lane of Turin; Rebecca and Domenic Bertoni of Sherburne; Mary Nisbet of Hornell; Rhonda and Richard Pancoe of Earlville; Vanessa and Shawn Brady of Chaumont; Eric Stanton, Angela Stanton, and Michael Stanton, all of Lowville; Shawn Stanton of Castorland; a daughter-in-law, Becky Stanton of Lowville; a sister, Albina Gyore of Rochester; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She is predeceased by her husband, Lucian W. Stanton, who died on August 31, 2015; two sons, Timothy L. Stanton, who died June 14, 1975; and William M. Stanton, who died November 20, 2014; 4 sisters, Jennie Wieczerzak; Sophie Sweredoski; Helen Ross; Viola Domago; 4 brothers, John Wieczerzak; Thaddeus Wieczerzak; Adam Wieczerzak; and Walter Wieczerzak.

Isabel was born on October 10, 1927 in the Town of Martinsburg, NY, a daughter of the late Martin and Eva Chudzik Wieczerzak.  She graduated from Lowville Academy in 1946.  On November 30, 1946, she married Lucian W. Stanton at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Houseville, with Rev. Lambert Sidor officiating.  Together with her husband, the couple went into partnership with his parents on the family farm on the West Road.  In 1948, the couple purchased the farm on East State Street in Lowville.  Isabel and Lucian purchased the Ed Morak farm in the Town of Martinsburg in 1960, the Edward Rittis farm in 1961, and the Robert Boshart farm in 1972.  The family continued farming for many years, retiring in 1991, after selling their property to Brookside Senior Living Community.

Mrs. Stanton was a communicant of St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, and a member of St. Hedwig’s Society.  She was a member of North Lowville Home Dem Group and enjoyed reading, knitting and flower gardening.
