Valerie M. Muncy

LOWVILLE – Valerie M. Muncy, 69, of Number Four Road, passed away Monday, February 26, 2024 at Lewis County Health System Hospital.

Valerie was born on December 19, 1954 in Lowville, New York, a daughter of the late Arnold F. and Rita Aucter Muncy.  She graduated from Lowville Academy in 1973, Jefferson Community College, and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching from SUNY Oswego.  Valerie worked for Lewis County Department of Social Services, and was a substitute teacher before teaching art at Carthage Central School briefly.  She then worked for South Lewis Central School for many years until her retirement in 2013.

Valerie was a life member of Memorial Post 6912 Ladies Auxiliary, VFW.  She enjoyed crafting and loved her cats.

She is survived by her siblings their spouses, Kevin Muncy of Copenhagen; Vanessa and Doug Rook of Lowville; Vonnie and Joseph Brouty of Croghan; Karl and Magdeline Muncy of Watson; Kent and Marcia Muncy of Watson; an uncle Robert Muncy, many nieces, nephews and cousins.  She is predeceased by her parents, a brother, Keith Muncy; and a niece, Julie Marie Brouty.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc, Lowville with Rev. Bruce W. Chapman, officiating.  Burial will be in Beaches Bridge Cemetery.  Calling hours will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Friday, prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.  Contributions in Valerie’s memory may be made to the Lewis County Humane Society, P.O. Box 682, Lowville, NY  13367.
