CASTORLAND/OKEECHOBEE, FL- Thomas Michael Roby, 69, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, under the care of his daughter Carol and her family at her home on Route 126, Castorland.
A graveside service with military honors will be private for immediate family and held at a later date in Adams Rural Cemetery. Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.
Thomas is survived by two children, Carol Hoyt and Shawn Rebb of Castorland; Quinton Roby and his wife, Karla H. Roby of Okeechobee, FL; a stepdaughter, JoAnn Walters and her husband, Jason of Castorland; grandchildren, Jacob Hoyt (Morgann Middleton), Joshua Hoyt (Morgan Smith) and Justin Hoyt; Macallister and Remington Roby; and Jenna Walters. He is predeceased by his wife of 38 years, Elizabeth “Darcel” Roby; and a daughter, Jessica Roby.
Tom was born on February 15, 1951 in Watertown, NY, a son of the late William G. and Ruth Shean Roby. He joined the Navy in 1969 and served until his retirement in 1989.
In September, 1980, he married Elizabeth “Darcel” Jenkins in Key West, FL. Mrs. Roby passed away on August 25, 2018. After his service he worked for Homeland Security and was a U.S. Customs Agent in Orlando, FL. Tom loved to play pool, ride his motorcycle, fishing and campfires. He also enjoyed going to casinos, playing words with friends, and was always working on a jig saw puzzle. Tom enjoyed classic country & bluegrass music. He loved watching out his window for hummingbirds.
