Thomas Jones Obituary

Thomas Carl Jones, 73 of Watson, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 19, 2023.

Tom was born in Lowville on April 26, 1950 to Walter and Luella McBain Greenfield Jones.

Tom is survived by his loving wife and partner of eight and a half years, Ramona. Tom and Ramona’s marriage gave them a blended family of several children and grandchildren. “Titles” are unimportant when it comes to family. Tom is survived by Naomie (Brian) LaChausse, along with grandchildren, Daven Brigham (Meghan Shultz), Kearstin (Jonathan) Rodriguez, great-granddaughter Lily Rodriguez, Justin Brigham, Joshua (Zoie Lehman); Matt (Karen) Jones, along with grandchildren Matthew and Tyler Jones; Samantha LePage, along with grandchildren Jamie and Kevin; Casie (Ryan) Kolenda, along with grandchildren Devin Runner, Kally Runner and Mara Kolenda; Tanya Salmon Roy (Jim Goodenbery) along with grandchildren Kindrie Roy and Emma Roy.

Tom is also survived by his siblings Edris Fox, Walter Jones Jr., aka “Junior”, Virgil (Karen) Jones, Nancy Jones Rice, and Merritt (Misti) Jones. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, and siblings Danny Greenfield, Mona Mooney, Myrtle Jones, aka “Tootsie”, and Linda Jones.

Tom graduated from Lowville Academy in 1968, receiving his welding certificate from BOCES. He went on to work at NY Air Brake, AMF, owned and operated “The Village Diner” in Croghan, eventually retiring from Community Bank after twenty four years of service as a courier. His co-workers over the years at Community Bank held a special place in Tom’s heart.

Tom was passionate about cooking which he passed on to his daughter Naomie. He was a lover of hunting, and fishing. Especially the charter trips on Lake Ontario he and Ramona took, reeling in twenty pound catfish with Capt. Eric Scordo. Tom also enjoyed woodworking, gardening and processing his own meats. He was a wonderful loving man to many though in his younger years he was quite the rough and tumble kind of guy. He was well known for his off the cuff sense of humor and made any gathering a party. When Tom loved, he loved deeply, although he was not always able to show it as he wished he could. He did his best. Tom touched many people’s lives in a wonderful way and is loved beyond measure by his wife, family and friends.

The entire family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the LCHS Residential Health Care Facility on the 4th floor and his extended care plan team. Their compassion and kindness were so appreciated.
