Thomas F. Gaskill

LOWVILLE/CARTHAGE-Thomas F. Gaskill, 98, formerly of Meadowbrook Terrace, Carthage, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Lewis County Health System Nursing Home.

Thomas is survived by his beloved wife, Judith; four children, Audrey Taraska, Cynthia Gaskill, Karen Snyder, Rob Schisler; four grandchildren, four great- grandchildren; and a nephew.  He is predeceased by a sister.

He was born on April 14, 1925 in Philadelphia, PA, a son of the late Franklin and Ellen Riley Gaskill.  He was a United States Veteran.  He married the former Judith Fisher on November 22, 1980 in Wayne, PA.  Thomas worked as a self-employed commercial artist in Philadelphia, PA for many years.  After his retirement he continued painting at home, the work that he loved so much.  Tom was a kind, patient man.  He was a steady presence in the lives of so many.  Tom was dependable in the face of life’s ups and downs.  More often than not a smile graced his face, even while relaxing.  His Christian heart loved everyone, unconditionally, and he was loved by all who were lucky enough to know him.  May the memory of his warmth sooth the hole in the hearts his absence has created.

In keeping with Thomas’ wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service.  Burial will be held in Lowville Rural Cemetery, at the convenience of the family.
