GLENFIELD- Sybil Lorraine McTarsney, 86, of N. Chase Lake Road; passed away on Thursday morning, September 28, 2023 at her home, under the loving care of her children and Lewis County Hospice.
Mrs. McTarsney is survived by her three children, Lester H. McTarsney, Jr, Sean P. McTarsney, and Kelley A. Sussman and three grandchildren, Charles P. McTarsney, Eli R. McTarsney, and Kyle T. Sussman. She is predeceased by her husband, Lester H. McTarsney Sr.; sisters, Joyce Hansel, Barbara Williams, Marjorie Emmerling, Dorothy Aggar, and Marsha McTarsney; brothers, Ernie Williams, and James Williams.
Sybil was boern on November 26, 1936 in Staten Island, NY, a daughter of the late William and Edyth Ruth Marsh Williams. As a teen, she worked on the Staten Island ferry boat in the food court, then at Manufacturers Hanover as a page/bookkeeper. On April 23, 1960, she married Lester Hugh McTarsnay at Immaculate Conception Church, Staten Island. She was happy being a wife and mother and took great care of her family and her home. Later in her marriage, she joined Marriage Encounter through Holy Child Catholic Church, Staten Island, NY with her husband, which they both enjoyed. Mr. McTarsney passed away in 2000.
Sybil was a communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville. She loved to garden, read, crochet, play cards, and spoil her three grandsons.
A funeral Mass will be said at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 6, 2023 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church Lowville with Rev. Severinus Torwoe, Pastoral Vicar, officiating. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Staten Island, NY.
