Stanley F. Sweeney

GLENFIELD- Stanley Frederick Sweeney, 84, of Greig Road, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown.

He was born on January 29, 1936 in Greig, NY, the son of William and Ruth Sweeney.  Stan attended General Martin Central School in Glenfield, N.Y.

He married Shirley J. Lee on November 14, 1953.  He was employed by the Georgia Pacific Paper Company for 43 years.  After retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling, spending winter months in South Carolina, and spending time with family and friends.

Stanley enjoyed making birdhouses, and was affectionately known as “The Birdhouse Man”.

He is survived by his wife; daughters, Shelly (Patrick) Porter, Marsha LaLonde, Melinda Sweeney, Colleen (Mark) Maryhugh; and son Phillip (Becky) Sweeney; as well as ten grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a daughter, Christine Anne.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville.  There will be no calling hours.  Spring burial will be in Otter Creek Cemetery.  Contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.  Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.
