COPENHAGEN- Raymond H. Hebert, 93, formerly of Copenhagen, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility, Lowville, of complications from a broken hip surgery.
Raymond is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Verna ; four children, Susan Hebert of Florida, David and Michelle Hebert of Texas, Jeff and Sharon Hebert of Illinois, Tina Hebert of Calcium; one sibling, Ida (Gerald) Radley of Cape Vincent; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn and David W.; several neices, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by a grandson, Keith Hebert; two sisters, Stella Malone, and Clarrise Harris; four brothers, Roger Hebert, Jerome Hebert, Gerald Hebert, Sylvio Hebert.
Raymond was born on September 15, 1930 in Champlain, NY, a son of the late Joseph and Elodie Bolio Hebert. He attended Copenhagen school through the 9th grade and then served as a Private First Class in the United States Marine Corp from 1954 to 1957. Raymond married Verna Houseal on October 10, 1957 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Copenhagen. Together with his wife, the couple owned and operated a dairy farm from 1957 until 2002. In retirement, Raymond worked for Greenthumb in maintenance and janitorial duties at the DEC, Lowville.
Raymond was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Copenhagen.
He enjoyed working, horses, joking around, dancing and listening to country music.
A funeral Mass will be said at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Copenhagen. Spring burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Copenhagen with Rev. Todd E. Thibault officiating. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a local child in need. Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.
