Norma was born on December 7, 1933 in the Town of Ellisburg, a daughter of the late Alvin and Julia Mary Howard David.  She graduated from Harrisville Central School in 1952.  Norma worked at Gilbert’s Laundry in Carthage prior to her marriage.  On April 23, 1960, she married Leslie Francis Ver Schneider at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Natural Bridge, with Rev. Leo McCarthy officiating.  Together with her husband and children, the family operated a dairy farm on the Steele Road until 2000.

Norma was a communicant of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Croghan.  She was a life member of Lewis County Memorial Post #6912 Auxiliary, Lowville VFW, and a life member of Black River Valley Fiddlers.

Norma enjoyed traveling with Les, camping, and attending Blue Grass festivals and Sunday fiddler’s events.  She enjoyed country music and dancing, family gatherings, Thursday luncheons with her children, close cousins, and special friends, milestone birthday and anniversary parties at the Lowville VFW, and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Norma’s family would like to extend a special thank you to her grandson, Stuart, who spent every night that he could with her while she was in the hospital.  It meant the world to her, and brought great comfort to her family.  We would also like to thank Dr. Willis, for his care and unwavering support of Norma for 40 years, including her final days.  Norma had many extended family members, neighbors and close friends that she appreciated taking time to visit and check on her while she was in the hospital.
