Kathleen Baker Obituary

WATERTOWN/LOWVILLE- Kathleen A. “Kathy” Baker, 59, of Leray Street, formerly of Lowville, a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2023 at her home under the loving care of her family and Jefferson County Hospice.

Kathy's family was her world. She is survived by her children, Jordan Bandych of Lowville, Ryan Rook of Buffalo, and Hannah Rook of Watertown. She was a cherished grandmother to Brahm, Vaughn, and Eilley. Kathy is also survived by her father, Peter A. Baker and his companion Bonnie Wetmore of Lowville, her siblings, Julie Baker Cummings of Lowville, Peter J. Baker of Albany, and Kenneth R. Baker of Lowville. She was a cherished aunt to Charles Baker, Brittany Baker, Breanna Wallace, Brooke Baker, Drew Baker, Quinn Cummings, and Cecelia Baker.  Kathy also leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was predeceased by her mother, Dorothy "Dot" Baker, her maternal grandparents, Charles and Martha Kaczynski, and her paternal grandparents, Harold and Genevieve Baker.

Kathy was a proud graduate of Lowville Academy, Class of 1982. After graduation, her career path reflected her many talents and interests. She worked for WBRV/WLLG Radio in Lowville, and explored her creative side through modeling, and excelled with her culinary skills by cooking and bartending for various establishments throughout Lewis and Jefferson Counties. Kathy was co-founder of Black River Brewing Co. in Watertown.  She also worked in accounting locally, and sold ad space for the Adirondack Mountain Sun newspaper years ago.

Kathy was an avid homemaker who enjoyed collecting antiques.  She found joy in watching game shows, crossword puzzles, scrabble, and rummy.  Kathy enjoyed hunting, was a NASCAR fan and loved attending races. Music was a significant part of Kathy's life, and she cherished attending many concerts with her family. The Harley Davidson Rendezvous Classic in Mariaville Lake, NY, was a highlight for Kathy. Above all, Kathy's favorite pastime was cooking for her children.

Kathy will be remembered as a woman of boundless energy, warmth, and passion. Her legacy will live on through the lives she touched, and the family she loved so dearly. She will be deeply missed.

A funeral Mass will be said at Noon on Tuesday October 31, 2023 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Rev. Douglas Decker, Pastor officiating.  There are no calling hours.  Burial will be at the family cemetery on Liberty Road, Town of Montague.  A Celebration of Life gathering will immediately follow the graveside service at Marine Corps League Det. #754, 7429 State Route 12, Lowville, NY, all are welcome.  Any food donations may be brought directly to the Marine Corps League on Tuesday morning, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
