CONSTABLEVILLE- Joseph James “Joe” Honey, 80, of N. Main Street, passed away on Saturday December 2, 2023 at his home.
A Celebration of Life Gathering with Military Honors will be held in the spring. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Joseph to Lewis County Memorial Post # 6912,(Lowville VFW) 7744 W. State Street, Lowville, NY 13367.
Joe is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline Honey (Mike Gressley) of Erie, PA; a step-son, Ken Guffey of Erie, PA; a step-daughter and her husband, Rhonda (Dave) Sharie of Erie, PA; his siblings, Mary (Bob) Young of Crawford,FL, Barb Honey-Clair (Wes Clair) of Boonville, John (Heidi) Honey of Henderson, Brenda Meyers of Glenfield, Bonnie Podkowka of Lyons Falls, Eugene Honey of West Leyden, Teresa (Donald) Dragon of Constableville; a sister-in-law, Joyce Honey of Erie, PA;and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his siblings, Bobby G Honey, Michael V. (Elaine) Honey, Anna L. Moshier (Burton Pomerville); and a nephew, Joseph Pomerville.
Joseph was born on November 25, 1943 in Louisville, Kentucky, a son of the late Vanroe and Mary Kalamas Honey and graduated from Lowville Academy. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960 – 1963, when he was honorably discharged. After his service, he worked at the papermill at Lyonsdale for several years. He then moved to Indiana for many years. He then moved to Erie, PA and later to Buffalo, NY where he worked for Blue Bird Coach Line, and then drove charter buses. Joe moved home to Lewis County in 2008 and worked for Birnie Bus Service, Inc. until his retirement in 2010. He loved the outdoors, hunting & fishing. Joe was a jokester and loved people.
