Evelyn Clemons Obituary

LOWVILLE – Evelyn G. Clemons, 89, formerly of Van Amber Road, Castorland, passed away Friday morning, December 11, 2020 at Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility, Lowville, after a long illness, with her loving family by her side.

Due to covid, the funeral will be private.  A graveside service for friends and family will be at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, December 14, 2020 in Gravesville Cemetery, Gravesville, NY.  There are no calling hours.  Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Gravesville Cemetery, In C/O Katherine Squire , 6009 Military Road, Remsen, NY 13438.

She was the mother of six children, Diann and (Bruce Rachon) of Gray; F. Eric and (Patrice Lyndaker) of Castorland; Janet and (Barry Turck) of Lowville; Donald and (Becky Honer) of Castorland; Cindy and (Donald Murphy Jr.) of Castorland; Larry Clemons and his longtime companion, Kathy Smith, of Lowville.  She leaves behind 19 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter; also several nieces and nephews. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Frank, an infant son; a great-granddaughter, Ella Grace Murphy; her parents, George & Mildred Gage; and a brother Charles Gage.

Evelyn was born October 30, 1931 at home in Marcy, NY, the daughter of George S. and Mildred Hobin Gage.  She graduated from Holland Patent Central School in 1949.  Evelyn married Frank W. Clemons, June 11, 1949 at the South Trenton Presbyterian Church.  Together they ran a dairy farm on Powell Road in Holland Patent, NY, then moving to the Putman Road to farm.  Evelyn worked as a laborer for Kraft Foods, Lowville, for 25 years.  In 1969 they purchased a farm in New Bremen, NY, where they farmed. She was a past member of the South Trenton Grange, past league bowler. Evelyn was also a past member and honorary member of the New Bremen Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
