Ethelene Rozanski Obituary

BELLWOOD- Ethelene J. Rozanski, 92, of Lowville, formerly of Sears Pond Road passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at the Lewis County Residential Healthcare facility where she was a patient since 2019.     

Ethelene is survived by four daughters, Carolyn (John) Burnham of Portsmouth, VA, Valerie Harper of New Bremen and her companion William Tuttle, Toni Rozanski and Robin Rozanski, both of Lowville; seven grandchildren, Katie and Chris Hull of VA, Shannon Turner of VA, Tera and Mike Brockway of Lowville, Royal Damuth of MN, Darcy McFaul  of Lowville, Sophia and Brad Elkins of Carthage, Brandy Lucas of Lowville; seven great grandchildren, Dylan and Callum Turner, Hunter and Eboni Finehout, Adyson McFaul, Caden Lucas; six great-great grandchildren and  step-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Mitchell Rozanski.

Ethelene was born on September 28, 1930 in the town of Pinckney, NY, the daughter of the late Bertis H. and Saloma Babbitt Jeffrey.  She attended country school on County Route 194 and graduated from Copenhagen School.  Ethelene married Mitchell Rozanski on October 20, 1946 at Grace Episcopal Church, Copenhagen with Rev. Walter Leopold Bennett officiating.  The couple purchased a farm on the Sears Pond Road in the 1940’s and raised their  family working  together as owner and operators of the Rozan Dairy Farm.  They were Dairy of Distinction Farmers. Mitchell passed away on September 14, 2014. 

Ethelene was an amazing seamstress making hundreds of pieces of formal wear, including wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, baptismal gowns and suits.  She loved to crochet, especially doilies.  Ethelene was musical, playing organ, trumpet, accordion and piano, she could played anything.  Ethelene loved crossword puzzles from the newspaper, enjoyed making maple syrup and working in her big garden.  She enjoyed snowmobiling and four wheeling and she loved her scotch.

Ethelene’s family would like to say a special thank you to the 4th floor staff of Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility for the excellent care given to our mother during her stay.

In keeping with Ethelene’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service.  A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the convenience of the family to be announced at a later date.  Burial will be in Barnes Corners Cemetery.
