LOWVILLE- Carol M. Chapman, 67, of 7574 South State St. of Lowville, passed away October 12, 2019 at Upstate University Hospital.
She was born on October 9, 1952 in Lowville, N. Y. daughter of the late Walter and Anna (Woolschlager) Mellnitz Sr. She attended Beaver River and Lowville schools. Following school, she married Roger Chapman in October of 1969 at the home of his parents Geraldine and Howard Chapman in Watson, N.Y. He was the father of her children and they were married for several years before the marriage ended in divorce. She worked as a waitress, AMF, and the Beaverite Paper Mill where she worked for several years, retiring due to health issues.
She enjoyed playing pool, loved animals, hunting when she was a young woman and spending time with her grandchildren.
Among her survivors are a son, Joey H. Chapman and his fiance, Theresa Windover, of Carthage; a daughter, Jackie L. Chapman and her finace, Albert Barbarito, of Lowville; five siblings; Louise Whitford, of Chaumont; Walter Mellnitz Jr. of Black River; Gary (Lisa) Mellnitz, of Lowville; Larry (Nancy) Mellnitz, of Watson; and Carl Mellnitz, of Lowville, a sister-in-law, Barbara Mellnitz, of Lowville; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog, Sonya.
Besides her parents, a daughter, Lori Campbell died November 18, 2005 a brother, Warren Mellnitz, and a daughter-in-law, Tina Chapman all predeceased her.
A memorial service will be held 6pm, Friday, October 18, 2019 at the Iseneker Funeral Home Inc. Calling hours will preceed the service on Friday from 4-6 pm at the funeral home.
