LOWVILLE – Betty J. Rowsam, 79 of Stowe Street, Lowville passed away early Friday morning, March 1, 2024 at her home.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Waters Road, Lowville. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Deacon Ron Gingerich officiating. Burial will be held at Martinsburg Cemetery following the funeral service. Everyone is welcome to join the family for a luncheon at the Lowville Volunteer Fire Department immediately after the graveside service. Any food donations may be taken directly to the Lowville Fire Department on Thursday morning, starting at 9:00 a.m.
Betty is survived by her beloved husband, Herb; four children, Cheryl and Daryl Robbins of Lowville; Gene and Laurie Rowsam of Lowville; Laurie and Rick Defone of Rochester; Craig and Penny Rowsam of Lowville; three sisters and two brothers, Carol Kaban of Watertown; Richard and Jackie Kaban of Lowville; Jerry and Cheryl Kaban of Adams; Barbara and Dennis Marshall of Watertown; Rose Triance of Maine; thirteen grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and one on the way; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her parents; a grandson, Andrew Rowsam; and two step mothers, Emma Ward Kaban and Martha Compo Kaban.
Betty was born in Lowville, NY on September 29, 1944, a daughter of the late Michael and Grovene Kline Kaban. Betty graduated from Lowville Academy in 1962 and attended CCBI in Syracuse. She worked as a telephone operator in Lowville before her marriage. On September 12, 1964, she married Herbert E. Rowsam at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville. Betty worked as a waitress at Lloyd’s of Lowville and helped her husband on the Vic Steria farm in West Martinsburg. She then went to work for AMF for more than 25 years, until her retirement. After her retirement, she worked in caring for the elderly.
Betty was a Communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Lowville.
Betty was a member of the Lewis County Ladies’ Home Demonstration Club and worked for the Lowville Village Election Committee. She enjoyed puzzles, sewing and knitting, hunting, and playing cards. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
