LOWVILLE – Phyllis M. Pelo, 80, of Railroad Street, passed away on March 24, 2016 at SUNY Upstate Medical University Hospital, Syracuse

A funeral Mass will be said at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville, with Rev. Christopher Carrara, Pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in the Martinsburg Cemetery.  Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from 4 – 7 p.m.at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.  Memorials may be made to the family, Michael Pelo, 7496 Railroad Street, Lowville, NY 13367.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Michael; her children, Thomas Pelo and his fiancé, Christine Boelman of Cedar Bluffs, NE; William Pelo of Lowville; Mark Pelo and his companion, Bonnie Bacon of New Bremen; Michelle Pelo of Martinsburg; a sister-in-law, Ruth Laribee of Lowville; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was predeceased by a daughter, Sharon Pelo, who died June 29, 1978; a daughter-in-law, Roberta L. Pelo; a brother, Glenn Laribee, Jr.; and a baby sister, who died shortly after birth.

Phyllis was born on March 6, 1936 in Lowville, NY, a daughter of the late Glenn Sr. and Dorothy Lee Laribee.  She graduated from Lowville Academy and attended Jefferson Community College.  On September 1, 1956, she married Michael R. Pelo at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville.  Phyllis stayed home to raise her family.

She was a communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, where she was active with the Altar Rosary Society and the Daughters of Isabella.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and going on picnics.
