Mary Alice was born on June 7, 1955 in Sellersville, PA, a daughter of John Landis Wile and Mary Alice Moyer Wile.  On June 21, 1975, she married Daniel Eugene Pierce at her parent's home.

Mrs. Pierce was a member of the Shekinah Mennonite Church, Croghan. She loved the Lord. Though quiet, she communicated her love for God and people through serving and spending time with people. Mary Alice had the gift of hospitality and loved to serve others. She was a home-maker and enjoyed many things. She enjoyed traveling, journaling, gardening, nature, sewing, quilting and playing piano. She looked forward to sugaring every spring and loved to boil maple syrup in the sugar bush. Her love for music was Southern Gospel and Bluegrass. She enjoyed her family and grandchildren as much as they loved being with her, their Grammy.

Mary Alice dedicated 15 years at the Lowville Farmer's Market and was one of the first vendors when the market opened. She participated in the Fresh Air Fund program for inner-city children for many years. She worked at the Heavenly Treasures Bake Shoppe for several years. She also helped her husband in painting and doing ceramic tile jobs for his construction business now known as Cedarcrest Construction LLC. She had enjoyed raising chickens and turkeys for Pierce's Poultry in summer and would help butcher and sell.

She was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer in September 2014. She did her medical treatments at the Burzynski Clinic in Houston, Texas. She enjoyed her time in Texas, loving the warm weather, BBQ, parks and the ocean. She never gave up or lost her faith even in the end days when pain was unbearable.
