Joyce Ann Rowsam

LOWVILLE– Joyce Ann Rowsam, 75, of East Road Adult Home, died Wednesday morning, December 14, 2016 at the Lewis County General Hospital of Congestive Heart Failure.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville with Ministers of the Apostolic Christian Church of America, Croghan, officiating.  There will be no calling hours.  Burial will be in the spring in New Bremen Rural Cemetery.  Per her wishes, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lewis County General Hospital Foundation, Attn:  Dialysis Fund, 7785 N. State Street, Lowville, NY 13367. 

She is survived by three sisters, Celia and Lowell Virkler of Lowville; Helena and Herbert Clarke of Utica;  Darlene and Carl Lahah of Boonville; four sisters-in-law, Marilyn Beck of Santa Cruz, CA; Beverly Beck of Utica; Janet Beck of Croghan; Patricia Beck of Clark Mills; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She is predeceased by five brothers, Howard Beck, who died in infancy; Leslie Beck, Jr.; Robert Beck; James Beck; Louis Beck; three sisters who died in infancy, Sarah, Mildred, and Helena May Beck; a sister, Sandra Beck, who died at age seven, and a sister, Lois Cardinal.

Joyce was born on April 14, 1941 in Utica, NY, a daughter of the late Leslie Beck, Sr. and Harriet Crouse Beck Lasher.  She was raised on the Van Amber Road, Castorland, and graduated from Beaver River Central School in 1959.  In January, 1960, she married George Plato in Naumburg, NY, they later divorced. Joyce worked as a custodian for Pasco County School System in Largo, FL for many years. She married Lloyd Clarke in Florida, he died in May 1994.  Joyce returned home to Croghan and married James Rowsam in 1997.  They later divorced.  She enjoyed music, singing, and yodeling.  Most of all, Joyce loved her family and was very proud of her brothers and her nephews military service.
