CASTORLAND- Gertrude L. Dicob, 95, of Resha Road, died Thursday afternoon, October 25, 2018 at the Lewis Co. General Hospital.
A funeral Mass will be said at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Croghan, with Rev. Donald Manfred, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Croghan. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lewis County Search and Rescue, 7782 West State Street, Lowville, NY 13367.
She is survived by her children, James Dicob of Castorland, Sally Huppke of Florida, Nicholas Dicob of Castorland, Anthony Dicob of Castorland, Kathy Walseman of Castorland, Kristy Muncy of Lowville, Jane and Randy Peters of Croghan, 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; two sistersin-law, Shirley and Lois Martin; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her husband, Francis N. Dicob,; a son William F. Dicob; a grandson William J. Walseman; a daughter-in-law, Merry J. Dicob; a son-in-law, Glenn Huppke; five brothers, Robert, Leon, George, Howard, and Gordon Martin.
Mrs. Dicob was born on September 6, 1923 in Croghan, NY, a daughter of the late
Dennis and C. Albertine Hoch Martin. She graduated from Beaver Falls High School and worked as a waitress in Number Four before her marriage to Francis N. Dicob at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Croghan, on January 18, 1943 with Rev. A. Burke, O.F.M., officiating. Together with her husband, they owned and operated a dairy farm on the Resha Road until 1963. She raised her family and worked for Beaverite Products, Beaver Falls for a short time. Gertrude enjoyed being home and babysitting for her grandchildren, whom she loved. She enjoyed going for rides, eating out, and sewing. She was a communicant of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Croghan.
