Clara M. (Dekin) Marolf

BEAVER FALLS – Clara M. Marolf, 86, of NYS Route 126, died Wednesday evening, January 25, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Utica, surrounded by her family.

The funeral will be Sunday, January 29, 2017, at 2:00 p.m.  at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville,  with Chad Atwood officiating.  Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery Annex, Beaver Falls in the spring.  Calling hours are Saturday, January 28, 2017 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.  Contributions in her memory may be made to The Lewis County General Hospital Fund for Hope, 7785 N. State St., Lowville, NY  13367.

She is survived by her husband, Bill; her children, Mrs. James (Betty) Martin of Croghan; Dale Marolf and his companion, Bethany Yost of Ohio; Bruce and Pam Marolf of Castorland; Calvin Marolf of Carthage; Mrs. Kenneth (Nancy) Myers of Carthage; her step-children, James and Dee Marolf of Beaver Falls; Jane and Steve Monnat of Croghan; her sisters and brother, Margaret A. Kohler of Croghan; Rose M. Marolf of Carthage; Alice and Stanley Mathys of Lowville; Maurice A. and Patricia Dekin of Indian River; Twelve grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She is predeceased by her first husband, Eugene Marolf; a daughter-in-law, Twila Marolf; a brother, Claude E. Dekin; and two sisters, Mable E. Emerson and Patricia E. Steria.

Clara was born on July 31, 1930 at home in Croghan, NY, a daughter of the late Everett and Opal Peeler Dekin. She attended country school at Indian River and Father Leo Memorial School. On June 4, 1949, she married Eugene W. Marolf at the Evangelical United Brethren Parsonage, Beaver Falls, with Rev. Pusey officiating.   Together with her husband, the couple owned and operated a dairy farm on the Second Road from 1953-1980, upon selling the farm to their son and daughter-in-law, Calvin and Twila Marolf.  Mr. Marolf died April 28, 2006.  On August 13, 2016, she married William D. Marolf at Croghan Island, with Rev. Bruce W. Chapman officiating.

She enjoyed four-wheeling, taking rides with her husband, knitting, crocheting, and cooking for everybody.  Clara especially enjoyed spending time with her family and extended family.
