Claire Allen Obituary

BRANTINGHAM – Claire Allen 87, of North Shore Road, passed away, Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Elderwood Nursing Home, Liverpool.

She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert and Kathie Allen of Florida; Roger Allen, Jr. of Hannibal; Timothy and Denise Allen of Hannibal; eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She is predeceased by her beloved husband Roger H. Allen; two brothers, Herbert, and Robert Grant; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth.

Claire was born January 11, 1932 at home in Canton, NY, a daughter of the late Herbert and Harriet Cornell Grant.  She graduated with a regent’s diploma from Canton Central School, and from Wallace Secretarial School on Ogdensburg, NY. On October 25, 1952, she married Roger H. Allen at the home of Rev. Walter S. Dobbie, in Canton, NY.  Mr. Allen served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 until 1956, while Claire stayed at home to care for their family.  Later, Claire was a secretary in the Guidance Office at Hannibal Central School, where she retired in 1988.  After their retirement, Roger and Claire moved to Brantingham, NY.

There will be no funeral or calling hours.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lewis County Humane Society, P.O. Box 682, Lowville, NY  13367; or to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Box 266, Lowville, NY  13367.  Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.
