LOWVILLE- Anna Margaret Tabolt, 82, of Cardinal Lane, passed away peacefully Sunday February 4, 2018 at Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility, under Lewis County Hospice and family.

A memorial Mass will be held in the spring at St. Peter’s Oratory, New Bremen along with burial in St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Bremen.  Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lewis County Humane Society, P.O. Box 682, Lowville, NY 13367 or a charity of one’s choice.

Anna Margaret is survived by many cousins.  She is predeceased by her parents and her sister, Bea.

Anna Margaret was born in Lowville, New York, on March 22 1935, a daughter of the late Robert and Bertha Turck Tabolt. She grew up on a farm on the Snell Road in New Bremen.  She graduated from Father Leo Memorial School in 1952 and from the College of Saint Rose in Albany in 1956 with a major in sociology. She then worked for one year in Utica at the Welfare Department, as it was then known, before moving to Syracuse where she was the family worker at the Northside CYO for 3 years. In 1960, Ann enrolled in Syracuse University’s Master of Social work program and received her degree in 1962. After working for 2 years at the Department of Social Services in Syracuse, Ann moved to Rochester where for 3 years she was a social worker in the City School System. After a brief stint in the VISTA in Washington D.C., Ann returned to Syracuse and worked at the Family Service Center. There she became interested in their pre-school program and decided to make a career change. She earned her teacher certification at SUNY Oswego and returned to Rochester, this time as a 2nd and 3rd grade teacher. In 1972, Ann moved to live with her parents in Lowville, on Shady Avenue. She began teaching 2nd grade in Lowville in 1973 and continued until her retirement in 1990.

In October 1996, Ann and her sister Bea moved to Brookside Senior Living Community on Cardinal Lane. Anna Margaret had quite of variety of work experiences and she enjoyed each one. She also enjoyed participating in many of the activities at Brookside and volunteering with Literacy of NNY and was a past volunteer at Lowville Council of Churches Food Pantry.

Anna Margaret was a communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville.
