Victoria Mae Greene

LOWVILLE – Victoria Mae “Vicki” Greene, 82, of Trinity Avenue, Lowville, passed away on Tuesday morning, July 7, 2026 at Lewis County General Hospital, where she had been a patient since June 25, 2026.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheri and David Giver of Lowville; Denise and Larry Monnat of Croghan; five children they adopted after their daughters were grown, Tammy Greene of Brantingham; Amy Greene and fiancé William Wormuth of Oneonta; Julie Greene of Lowville; Joe (Sarah) Greene of Felts Mills; Shelby Bucy of Lowville; a brother-in-law, Thomas and Jackie Greene of DeRuyter, NY; a sister-in-law, Lee Greene of Kentucky; her special niece, more like a sister, Sheila Harris of Boonville; 22 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She is predeceased by her beloved husband, David; five brothers, Philip, Richard, Floyd, Lloyd and James Rhone; three sisters, Linda Sproll, Barbara LaLone, and Donna LaLone.

Vicki was born on June 7, 1944 in Lowville, a daughter of the late Samuel and Mae Merry Rhone and graduated from Port Leyden School in 1962.  In the early years, she worked as a waitress, where she met the love of her life, David Greene, who she married on July 7, 1963, at First Presbyterian Church, Lowville.  Vicki worked in various positions at AMF in Lowville for many years, before operating a home day care from 1987 – 1994, which was her most favorite job. 

She enjoyed golf and was an avid bowler.  Vicki enjoyed crafting and computer games.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Over the past ten years, Vicki and her family had family dinner nights once a week.  She also enjoyed car trips around the north country.  Every year, Vicki and Dave donated to Toys for Tots, it was something they believed in.  Together with her husband, they held yearly Christmas parties, celebrated birthdays, and had Tuesday night pancake dinners.  Her day care led her to adopting four of the children she cared for.

A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at Lowville Rural Cemetery.  There are no calling hours.  Contributions may be made to the Lewis County Humane Society, P.O. Box 682, Lowville, NY 13367 or Toys for Tots.
