TURIN- It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing away of Vernon Leroy Phillips, 79, of State Route 26, at his home on Wednesday June 10, 2026, under the loving care of his family and Lewis County Hospice.
Calling hours are from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Monday June 15, 2026 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., with a graveside service with Military Honors at 2:00 p.m. at Martinsburg Cemetery. A get together at the home of Carl and Tammy Roberts will immediately follow the graveside service, all are welcome.
Vernon is survived by his wife Bonnie; his children, Vernon “Ted” (Tracey) Phillips, Jack (Crystal) Phillips of Watertown, Tim (Katie) Phillips of Blossville; step-children, Carl (Tammy) Roberts, Echo (Mike) David (companion Melena), Philip (Janelle), Anita, Randy (Erin), Autumn (companion, James) several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Gary Phillips, Randy Phillips, Dawn Snyder, Jackie Weaver; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by a son Scott Phillips; two brothers, Charlie Phillips and Timmy Phillips.
Vernon was born on November 20, 1946 in Watertown, NY, a son of the late William and Alberta Brown Phillips. He was educated locally. On December 24, 2025, he married the former Bonnie Williams in Forest City, NC.
Vernon and Bonnie could be seen at area fairs and events as Santa and selling his Kettle Corn. He was a truck driver, hauling milk and worked in mines for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
