Terry Teal Kohl

PORT LEYDEN – Terry Teal Kohl, 61, of Davis Bridge Road, passed away on Saturday evening, May 18, 2024 at SUNY Upstate University Hospital with her husband by her side.

She is survived by her beloved husband Bill; a daughter and son-in-law, Sueann Teal Edwards and Woody Edwards of New Berlin, NY, and their children, Haywood, Jayden, and Hayley Edwards; her siblings and their spouses, Mary and Wayne Ernst, Jacqueline and Robert Aden, Margaret “Podgie” Gorczyca, Nancy and Keith Mooney, Michael and Kimberly Teal, and Joseph and Robin Teal; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She is predeceased by a baby brother, John Teal, a sister and brother-in-law, Jenny Lou (Teal) Halko and David Halko; and a brother-in-law, Rodney Gorczyca.

Terry was born on December 17, 1962 in Lowville, NY, the youngest daughter of the late John P. Teal Jr. and Agnes “Porky” Gaffney Teal.  She graduated from South Lewis High School in 1982, where she met the love of her life, Bill Kohl. While in school, she worked at the convenience store in Lyons Falls. After high school, she worked for Lally Manufacturing in Port Leyden for many years, until they closed.  She then worked for Metropolitan Life in Oriskany for more than 20 years.  Terry loved her birds, including geese, ducks, guinea hens and the wild birds.  She loved watching the hummingbirds and the deer in her back yard.  Terry enjoyed snowmobiling with her husband and friends over the years.  She enjoyed attending NASCAR races and most of all, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. 

A funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.  Calling hours are from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., prior to the funeral service on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the funeral home with Pastor Wayne Arnold officiating.  A gathering and meal at 3 G Fire Department will immediately follow the funeral service, all are welcome.  .In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Upstate Medical University Hospital, Palliative Care/ Cancer Center, 750 East Adams Street, Syracuse, NY 13210.

Terry’s family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Emily Albert and Dr. Justin Wintman, for their loving care and kindness shown to Terry during her illness and hospital stay at Upstate Hospital.
