A lifelong resident of Lowville, Ron was born on April 21, 1932. Son of the late Raymond and Loretta May Roats Terrillion, Ron graduated from Lowville Academy Central School in 1950. In 1952, Ron enlisted in the United States Army, serving until 1954. Following his honorable discharge, he worked at Asbestos Burial Casket Company. On April 16, 1955, he married Mary E. Liscum at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Lowville with Rev. Monsignor Cotter officiating. Ron worked for his father-in-law, Charles Liscum, at Liscum’s Sawmill from 1955 to 1968. From 1968 to 1984, he worked at Beaverite Products in Beaver Falls and, later, at Lewis County ARC, where he was affectionately known as “Mr. T” by his crew. After his retirement from the ARC, Ron served for many years as an assessor for the Town of Lowville.

Ron was a communicant of Trinity Episcopal Church in Lowville, where he served on the Vestry for many years. He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching virtually any sport. He especially enjoyed rooting for and talking about the New York Yankees. He and Mary were fixtures for years in the Sunday Night Co-ed bowling league at Lewis Lanes. Over the years Ron coached little league, and officiated youth baseball, softball, and wrestling. Ron was a longtime member of the BPOE #1605, Lowville Lodge and Lowville Masonic Lodge #134 F & AM.

In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, reading (especially Louis L’Amour-penned westerns), keeping a journal, and traveling with Mary on cruises and bus trips in their retirement. Above all, he enjoyed just spending time visiting with family and his many friends, especially his wife Mary, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Ron’s ready smile, sharp wit, hilarious stories, and loving, positive attitude will be missed by all that knew him.
