ROME- Roger William Britton Jr., 64, of S. George Street, was found deceased at his home on Sunday, May 7, 2023.
Surviving are two children, Kathleen (Floyd) Farr of Port Leyden; Kevin (Kelsie) Britton of Port Leyden; two grandsons, Floyd and Ian Farr; a sister, Cindy (Doug) Richmond of Wampsville; and nephews, Johnathan and Joshua Richmond; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents and grandparents, and the love of his life, his fiancé Darlene Chudyk.
Roger was born on March 18, 1959 in Oneida, NY, a son of the late Roger W. Britton Sr. and Kathleen DenHaese. He received his GED in 1977 before entering the U.S. Army and served with the 82nd Airborne at Ft. Bragg, NC. Roger was honorably discharged in May, 1979. He was employed for several years at Harden Furniture, Rome Hospital, and Lou’s Cleaning Service. Roger retired in 2022.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles, and had a knack for fixing anything with an engine. Roger spent his final days with his true love, his canine companion Colby.
In keeping with Roger’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
