LOWVILLE- Richard C. “Dick” Dosztan, 88, of Number Four Road, passed away early Friday morning, February 14, 2025 at Wynn Hospital, Utica.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be in the spring at Beaches Bridge Cemetery, Watson.  There are no calling hours.  Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.

Dick is survived by two children, Jana Dosztan Reiss of Syracuse, NY, and Daniel Dosztan of Groton, NY; nieces, nephews and cousins.  He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Nancy; five siblings, William Dosztan, Andrew Dosztan, Lawrence Dosztan, Louis Dosztan, and Adeline Dosztan.

Dick was born on August 26, 1936 in Sperryville, NY, a son of the late Andrew and Julia Simon Dosztan.  He attended school locally. Dick was a proud Korean War Veteran, service in the U.S. Army.  On November 28, 1959, he married Nancy Buckingham.  Dick owned and operated Dick’s Liquor Store in Watson for many years.  Mrs. Dosztan passed away on August 25, 2001.                      

In his early years, Dick enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, playing cards, and snow sledding.  He was an avid woodworker who crafted and designed furniture.  Dick was a great cook who put on many chicken barbeques for friends and family.

In his later years, he enjoyed feeding and watching the birds by his home.  He enjoyed seeing the wildlife also.

He was a communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville. 

Dick was a member of Beaver River Memorial Post #1663, Croghan American Legion, where he was active in the Honor Guard.  He was a member of Lewis County Memorial Post #6912, Lowville VFW, and was a member of Brantingham Gold League and the Berggren’s Club.
