Philip Aubel Service is Postponed to a later date Obituary

This service is postponed to a later date due to unforeseen family circumstances.

 

CARTHAGE -Philip C. “Phil” Aubel, 81, of Route 126, formerly of Croghan died on Sunday, March 5, 2023 in Holiday, Florida with his family by his side.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Suellen; two sons Mark (Gina) Aubel, and Troy Aubel all of Florida; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Maria, and Samuel, all of  Florida; his siblings, Douglas E. Aubel of Boonville; Randall W. Aubel of Lowville; Rosalie (Dave) Redmond of Croghan; Dawn (Bill) Pelo of Lowville.  He is predeceased by his cherrished son Darren Aubel in 2004; a sister-in-law, Kathy Aubel; and a nephew Hans Lehman.

Philip was born on June 28, 1941 in Lewis County, NY, a son of the late Earl and Edna Mae Grunert Aubel.  He graduated from Beaver River Central School in 1961, where he was Captain of the football and baseball teams.  Phil served in the U.S. Army Reserves.  He attended Canton ATC for Engineering.  He began his career with Gouverneur Iron Works.   On  December 10, 1966, he married Suellen Schorge.  He then worked for Carthage Machines for 10 years and worked for Harrisville Manufacturing until going to work for Newton Falls Paper Mill.  Phil returned to work for Carthage Machine Co. as a Field Sales and Service Rep. for the United States and Canada.  He then worked as Maintenance Planner and Maintenance Supervisor for Champion International for several years.  Phil retired form Ft. Drum.

He was a member of Beaver River Memorial Post #1663 American Legion and a Past and Honorary Member of Beaver Falls Fire Department, where he was Boy Scout Rep.  He was the leader of Champion International Safety Class Training.  Phil pitched softball with many different teams around the Croghan area.

Phil enjoyed designing and building two homes, welding, repairing small engines, chainsaws and snowmobiles.  He loved playing cards, golfing, and driving his corvette with his wife by his side.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, choldren and grandchildren.  Phil will be greatly missed.

Due to the fact that he passed away in Florida, there will be no calling hours or funeral service.  Phil’s family is planning a Memorial Service with Military Honors to be held at 1 p.m. on June 3, 2023 at St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Croghan, with a Celebration of Life gathering immediately following at Croghan American Legion.
