Niles Schulz Obituary

LOWVILLE — Niles R. Schulz

Niles R. Schulz, 93, of Buckingham Road, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday afternoon, August 3, 2025, surrounded by the love and care of his family, friends, neighbors, and Lewis County Hospice.

A prayer service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., with ministers from the Apostolic Christian Church of America officiating. Burial will follow at Beaches Bridge Cemetery in Watson. Calling hours will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., prior to the service.

Niles is survived by his two sons: Mark Schulz of Clifton, CO, and Scott (Nancy) Schulz of Lowville; eight grandchildren: Larinda, Shawn, Eric, Ryan, Sarah, Nika, Dawn, and Cody; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Constance M. (Hoch) Schulz.

Born on July 29, 1932, in New Bremen, NY, Niles was the son of the late Seth and Lorinda Bohall Schulz. He graduated from Lowville Academy in 1949 and proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. Niles owned and operated a dairy farm on Route 26 in Lowville from 1956 until 1979. He and Constance were married in Winchester, VA, and shared many happy years together until her passing on June 30, 2015.

In 1980, Niles founded Diamond Conveyor Company (Farm Equipment), which he ran until 1994. From 1984 onward, he devoted much of his time to driving members of the Amish community, a role he cherished deeply.

A proud member of the Lowville American Legion Post #162, Niles had a passion for old tools and antiques, especially hand tools and hay knives. He enjoyed attending garage sales and participating in tractor pulls at the Lewis County and Oneida County Fairs.

Niles was also blessed with the companionship of great friends Tom and Cindy, and Sandy and Mike. Tom and Cindy especially adopted Niles as one of their own, and all of their families became like family to him. He also remained close with his ex-daughter-in-law, Linda Schulz, the devoted mother of Larinda, Shawn, and Eric.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Box 266, Lowville, NY 13367, or to Beaches Bridge Cemetery, c/o Michele Burke, 6537 Pine Grove Road, Glenfield, NY 13343.
