CROGHAN- A graveside service with Military Honors for Neil R. Hutt, 85, will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Lowville Rural Cemetery. He passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Iseneker Funeral Home, 5702 Waters Road, Lowville. A calling hour will be from
10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. before the funeral at the funeral home. Spring burial with Military Honors will be in Lowville Rural Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the service at the Lowville American Legion, all are welcome. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Neil’s name may be made to the Lowville American Legion, 5383 Dayan St. Lowville, NY 13367.
He is survived by three daughters, Sandy Bush of Vermont, Brenda (Joe) Logan of Canton, and Elke (Ernest) Jones of Vermont; his companion, Rosie Lachausse; a sister-in-law, Kathy Hutt of Lowville: and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Tina Sontana, in October, 1965; three brothers, Eugene Hutt Jr., Gary Hutt, and Eddie Hutt who passed away at birth; and one sister and her husband, Marge (Dick) Olley.
Neil was born on September 28, 1939 in Carthage, a son of the late Eugene and Gladys Reynolds Hutt. He graduated from Lyons Falls High School in 1958. After graduation, he enlisted into the United States Air Force and was first sent to San Antonio, Texas and later Amarillo, Texas for basic training. From 1959 to 1960, he was stationed at Turner Airforce Base in Albany, Georgia, where he married Tina Sontana in 1960. Shortly after their marriage, Neil was stationed in Africa for one year before being sent to Pease Air Force Base in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, working in base supplies. After Neil’s honorable discharge in 1962, he began a 37 and a half-year career as a finisher, at AMF Bowling Products, Inc., Lowville, retiring in 1998.
Neil enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, playing cards, and billiards. He founded the Lewis County Billiards League in 1973 and was responsible for collecting money, score sheets, and taking care of the billiards banquet. In 1985, officers were elected to fulfill those duties.
Neil was a life member of the BPOE #1605, Lowville Lodge and the Jerdan Falls Hunting Club, a member of Lowville American Legion #162, charter member and past adjunct of Lowville Amvets Post #99, past third vice for the Lewis County American Legion, and a past member of the Brantingham Golf Club.
