Nancy Hanno Obituary

GLENFIELD– Nancy J. Hanno, 70, of Chase Lake Road, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at her home under the loving care of her family and Lewis County Hospice.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Michael; two sons and daughters-in-law, Matthew Jon and Arlene (Van Alstyne) Widrick of Virginia; Nicholas Daniel and Leah (Juby) Widrick of Castorland; six grandchildren, Owen, Oliveia, Haley, Alexis, Ryan and Eli; a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Susan Burr of Glenfield, and their children, Jeffrey and Sarah; a sister and brother-in-law, Debra and Gregory Schantz of Lowville, and their children, Jerome, Kyle and Caitlyn; an aunt and several cousins.  She is predeceased by her parents, Robert and Mary VanNest Burr; and a brother, Robert “Bobby” Burr.

Nancy was born on July 21, 1954 in Lowville, a daughter of the late Robert and Mary VanNest Burr. She attended St. Peter’s School and Lowville Academy, graduating in 1972.  Nancy married Michael Hanno at their home on June 3, 1989, with Julius Guignard officiating.  Nancy was a communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and taught Liturgy of the Word for many years.  She raised her boys and helped many families in and around Lowville to raise their children.  She also worked at United Northern Bank and Lowville Elks Lodge.  Nancy had a heart to help people.  She worked tirelessly for Christmas Sharing in Lewis County and at the Lowville Food Pantry.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025 from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., 5702, Waters Road, Lowville.  A funeral Mass will be said on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville, with Rev. Douglas Decker, Pastor, officiating.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lowville Food Pantry, 5502 Trinity Ave., Lowville, NY 13367; or give an hour or two of your time to volunteer at your local church, school, civic organization, nursing home, hospital, humane society, or food pantry in Nancy’s memory.
