Mildred E. Weierman

April 25, 1918 ~ March 4, 2015 (age 96) 96 Years Old

LYONS FALLS – Mildred E. Weierman, 96, of McAlpine Street, formerly of Pickering Street, Ogdensburg, died early Wednesday morning, March 4, 2015 at her home, under the care of her family and Lewis County Hospice. 

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Forest Presbyterian Church, Lyons Falls with Rev. Naomi Kelly, Pastor, officiating.  Entombment will be in Foxwood Memorial Park, Ogdensburg, where a committal service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.  Calling hours will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday prior to the funeral service at the church.  Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.  Contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation National Headquarters, Donations, 6520 North Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309-2130; the American Cancer Society Memorial Processing Center, PO Box 7, East Syracuse, NY  13057; or to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Box 266, Lowville, NY  13367

She is survived by her daughter, Eloise Weierman Johnson, and her husband Edward, of Lyons Falls; three granddaughters, Kimberly and Richard Figarotta of Buffalo, NY; Surrae and Dr. Charles Roman of Columbus, GA; Jennifer and Marc Leidig of Saratoga Springs, NY; seven great-grandchildren, Sarah Britton, Jonathan Britton, Caroline, Lauren and Brittney Roman, Katya and Sophie Leidig.  She is predeceased by her husband, John; and by a sister, Glenna Mack.

Mildred was born on April 25, 1918 in Pennsburg, PA, during a flu outbreak in her town, a daughter of the late Claude and Anna Miller Trumbore.  She graduated from Pennsburg High School, where she played basketball and field hockey.  After high school, she was trained as a beautician in Allentown, PA.  On May 20, 1939, she married John Allen Weierman at the Sixth Cornered Lutheran Church in Hatfield, PA.  Mrs. Weierman traveled with her husband through his work as a border patrol officer.  His first assignment was in Fort Covington.                  

Mrs. Weierman was an active member, along with her husband, at the First Methodist Church of Ogdensburg.  She was a strong lady, who weathered World War II, earthquakes and fires.
