He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Phyllis, on March 24, 2016; one daughter, Sharon Pelo on June 29, 1978; a granddaughter, Amanda Pelo; and four sisters, Martha, Catherine, Belva, and Anna.

Michael was born at home in Martinsburg on November 18, 1928, a son of the late Clement N. and Marie T. McNasby Pelo.  He attended rural school in Martinsburg.  Michael possessed a strong work ethic from a young age.  His first job was working as a farmhand on Roy Damuth’s farm.  He later worked for the Gould Paper Mill in Lyons Falls before working for Law Bros Construction and eventually Payne Jones which became known as Fibermark where he retired from after 38 years.  All the while, Michael worked odd jobs on the side and painted many roofs in the Lowville area.  After retirement, he worked alongside his son Bill.  He was always busy doing firewood, mowing lawns, and snow blowing.  On September 22, 1956, he married Phyllis M. Laribee at St. Peter’s Church in Lowville, a loving and blessed union which lasted nearly 60 years until her passing.

Michael enjoyed hunting and fishing .  Above all, he enjoyed the time spent at camp, in the outdoors, and with his family.

He was a communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and a proud member of the Enterprise Hunting Club.
