Mary Frances "Frankie" (Farney) Baker

CASTORLAND-  Mary Frances “Frankie” Baker, 76, of Cut Off Road, passed away on Saturday morning October 11, 2025 at Carthage Center Nursing & Rehabilitation.

A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday October 18, 2025 at Iseneker Funeral Home Inc. with Deacon Peter Woolschlager officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Stephen’s Cemetery.   A luncheon at the Croghan American legion will immediately follow the burial, all are welcome. Calling hours are from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday October 17, 2025 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., 5702 Waters Road, Lowville.  Contributions may be made in memory of Frankie to the Beaver Falls Fire Department, P.O. Box 456, Beaver Falls, NY 13305; Croghan American Legion, P.O. Box 217, Croghan, NY 13327 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Frankie is survived by her beloved husband of  56 years, Jim; three children, Christina Baker of Croghan, Michael (Leigh) Baker of Beaver Falls, Timothy (Amy) Baker of Croghan; four granddaughters, Addison, Laney, Lauren and Morgan; her mother, Theresa Farney of Carthage; three brothers, Charles (Vicki) Farney of Burville, James (Cynthia) Farney of Ohio, John (Diane) Farney of Beaver Falls; nieces, nephews and cousins.  She is predeceased by a daughter, Michelle Baker who was stillborn in 1970, and her father, Robert Farney.

Frankie was born on May 6, 1949 in Lowville, NY a daughter of the late Robert Farney; and Theresa Bush Farney and graduated from Beaver River Central School in the class of 1967.  She attended Watertown School of Commerce.  Frankie worked for Gibson’s Laundry in Watertown where she met her future husband.  On April 12, 1969, she married James W. Baker at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Croghan.  She worked at Beaverite in Beaver Falls and as a housekeeper on Ft. Drum.  Frankie was well-known while working at Wakefield’s General Store and for Croghan Convenience Store for many years, until her retirement.

She was a communicant of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Croghan.  Frankie was a member of Croghan American Legion Auxiliary and was a part of the support group at Beaver Falls Fire Department.  She enjoyed making cakes, especially wedding cakes.  Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
