LOWVILLE – A graveside service for Marlene W. Merry, 90, will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Bremen. A Celebration of Life gathering will immediately follow the graveside service at the Lowville VFW, all are welcome. Any food donations may be taken directly to the Lowvile VFW on Saturday. Marlene passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Sunset Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Boonville. Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.
LOWVILLE – Marlene W. Merry, 90, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Sunset Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center with her loving family by her side.
A graveside service will be held at a later date to be announced in the spring at St. Peter’s Cemetery in New Bremen. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marlene’s name may be made to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Box 266 Lowville, NY 13367.
Marlene is survived by a son; Kevin (Luann) Merry of Lowville; daughters, Stacy Kielmann (companion Marc Chamberlain) of Florida; a son-in-law, Richard Garito of New Bremen; Valerie (Bryon) Stone of New Bremen; and Amy (Ed) Farney of Florida; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a brother, Harland (Jeanne) Williams of Wilmington, NY; her sister-in-law and best friend, Jeanne Merry of Lowville; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Clifford J. “Zeb” Merry; her cherished daughter, Jody Garito; and a grandson, David Merry who passed away shortly after birth.
Marlene was born on October 27, 1934 in High Market, a daughter of the late Henry and Genevieve Haynes Williams. She graduated from Lyons Falls High School with the class of 1953. On January 28, 1956, she married Clifford J. Merry at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, New Bremen, a loving union of 65 years until Clifford’s passing in 2021. Marlene worked as the Town of New Bremen Tax Collector for 20 years retiring in 1996.
She was a life member of the Lewis County Memorial Post #6912 Auxiliary, a member of the New Bremen Fire Department Auxiliary, and a member of the Stillwater Fish and Game Club. Marlene thoroughly enjoyed playing cards.
