Maria Williams Obituary

LOWVILLE – Maria J. Williams, 59, of River Street, passed away Friday morning, January 12, 2024 at her home, under the loving care of her family and Lewis County Hospice.

Maria was born on November 13, 1964 in Watertown, NY a daughter of the late Robert John Williams and Ruby Carter Williams Lehman. She graduated from Beaver River Central School in 1984.  She won many ribbons for track and swimming in Special Olympics. Maria worked at Hills Department Store and Stewart’s in Lowville and volunteered for Lewis County General Hospital and for The ARC, where she worked in the Child’s House in Lowville.

Maria attended Lowville First Presbyterian Church.  She enjoyed spending time with her fiancé, vacationing, watching movies, listening to music, talking about the weather, shopping and going to the zoo.  Maria loved all things Disney and Christmas.  Maria especially enjoyed taking care of people.

She is survived by her fiancé, John Riley of Lowville; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Debra Williams Hopkins (Scott) of Medina, TX; Rebecca Williams Nortz (Mike) of Salem, CT; Dr. Catherine Williams (Dr. Dan Root) of Glenfield; a sister-in-law, Charlene Williams Berrus; aunts, an uncle, nieces, nephews and cousins.  She is predeceased by her parents; her brother, Robert C. Williams; and her step-father, Milton Lehman.

A memorial service will be held May 18th at First Presbyterian Church, Lowville with private burial in Swinburne Cemetery, Deer River.
