LOWVILLE – Leroy Merwin Clemons, 84, of State Route 812, Lowville, passed away on Friday August 22, 2025, at his home.
The funeral service will be held on Friday August 29, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville, with Rev. Bruce W. Chapman, officiating. Burial will follow Martinsburg Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Martinsburg Cemetery, P.O. Box 8, Martinsburg, NY 13404.
He is survived by a son and a daughter-in-law, Clay and Lisa Clemons of Carthage; two grandsons, Ryan (Heather) Clemons of Round Rock, TX, and Tyler (Kendra) Clemons of Carthage and their son Maverick; a brother and sister-in-law, Ernie (Marlene) Clemons of Watertown; a close sister-in-law and her husband, Karen and Mark Dudley of TN, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Patricia Clemons, who passed away on February 3, 2015, a son, Craig L. Clemons, who passed away on December 10, 2015; a brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Wilma Clemons; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ida and Durwood Weiler and Betty and Richard Chase.
Leroy was born on December 2, 1940 in Lowville, NY, a son of the late Merwin and Nancy Stoffel Clemons. He attended Lowville and enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving for 5 years until his honorable discharge. On February 26, 1966, he married Patricia A. VanCour at Ellisburg United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jacobs officiating. Leroy worked at Bomax Maufacturing in Watertown for many years. He then worked at Copenhagen Central School as a custodian from 1987 until his retirement in 2002.
Mr. Clemons enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
