CROGHAN - God took Kevin J. Keefer home on Wednesday afternoon, April 5, 2023 at Upstate University Hospital, Syracuse.
The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Croghan Mennonite Church. A calling hour will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2023, proir to the funeral service at the church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Caring Friends of the Community P.O. 712, Croghan, NY 13327 or Mennonite Central Committee. Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.
He is survived by his beloved wife of over 37 years, Anne; his sons, Ryan Keefer of Beaver Falls; Shawn and Becky Keefer, and their daughter, Riley, of Croghan; his daughter, Trisha and Scott Zehr, and their son, Lane, of Croghan; his mother, Eulene Keefer of Croghan; his siblings, Robert “Bob” and Valerie Keefer of Croghan; Steven Keefer of Croghan; Karen and Brent Woodhouse of Farmington, NY; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his father, Lewis C. Keefer, who passed away on December 6, 2013; a sister-in-law, Penny Keefer; and a brother-in-law, John Edick.
Kevin was born on October 18, 1961 in Lowville, a son of the late Lewis C. Keefer and Eulene B. Lehman Keefer. He graduated from Beaver River Central School in 1979, and worked on the family farm and on other area farms. Kevin worked in the woods for John Farney for a few years. On September 14, 1985, he married Anne E. Edick at First Mennonite Church in New Bremen, with Rev. Lester Bauman officiating. Kevin worked for Armstrong Paper in Beaver Falls until his retirement in 2012.
Mr. Keefer was a member of Croghan Mennonite Church. He loved the outdoors, enjoying sugaring, cutting firewood, farming and hunting. Most of all he loved his grandkids, and was passing his love of the outdoors to them.
