Kathryn Elizabeth Nagel

CASTORAND-Kathryn Nagel, age 75, passed away at her home early Sunday morning February 8, 2026, at Route 410 IRA where she had resided since 2002.  She attended Castorland Day Habilitation. Kathryn was born on February 19, 1950, in Fulton NY.  She is survived by her sisters, Alice and Katrinka Nagel, and her forever family from Rt. 410 and CDH.

Kathy was full of life.  She would smile and light up a room with her mischievous deeds.  She didn’t miss an opportunity to “turn on the charm” and use that smile to coax people to do what she wanted or at least get them to seriously consider it. It was almost impossible to resist. If the smile didn’t work, she might put a head on your shoulder while giving a pat on the back to further convince you that helping her to acquire an extra cup of coffee (or whatever she wanted) was in everyone’s best interests.  She loved going out most anywhere, but her favorites were trips to McDonalds or Dunkin’ for coffee. She also didn’t miss many chances to sneak a cup or two if an opportunity arose, and sometimes she did her best to create such opportunities. Kathy, most of all, loved her housemates, staff at home and day program, and her long-time advocate, friend, and guardian Pamela Zehr.

As Kathy’s health declined over the last month, she was able to come home to Route 410 IRA where they helped her celebrate her upcoming birthday a bit early. She was comforted and supported in her life, and through this last month, with care, dignity, and compassion by the staff she called family.  Kathy passed away peacefully on Sunday February 8th, 2025, with Pamela Zehr and staff by her side.

We would like to share condolences to Kathy’s extended family and friends who knew and cared for Kathy all these years.

Friends are invited to call at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., 5702 Waters Rd., Lowville, on Thursday, February 12th, 2026, from 1pm with funeral at 2pm.  Spring burial will be at Beaches Bridge Cemetery in the spring.
