Judith A. "Judy" Scoville

COPENHAGEN-Judith A. “Judy” Scoville, 80, of Route 12, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at her home under the care of her loving family and Lewis County Hospice.

A funeral Mass will be said at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 14, 2025 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Croghan, with Rev. Donald Manfred, Pastor officiating.  A luncheon at the Croghan American Legion will immediately follow the Mass, all are welcome.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Judy’s name may be made to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, PO Box 266, Lowville, NY 13367 or to the Lowville VFW Post #6912, P.O. Box 287, Lowville, NY 13367 or to the Croghan American Legion 9833 Main Street, PO Box 217, Croghan, NY 13327.  Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home Inc., Lowville.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Earl Scoville; five children, Janet M. (Paul) Aubin of Copenhagen, Janice A. (Jim) Purcell of Croghan, Robert T. Scoville and companion Linda Peters of Copenhagen, Keith A. (Tracie) Scoville of Copenhagen, and John P. (Molly) Scoville of Lowville; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Donna Getman of Carthage; One brother, James F. Zecher Jr. (Kathy) of Beaver Falls; a nephew, Jeffrey (Stephanie) Getman; and many cousins.  She was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Terry Getman; and a niece, Deanna Getman Cook.

Judy was born on July 9, 1944 in Lowville, a daughter of the late James F. and Loretta E. Kelley Zecher.  She attended Father Leo Memorial School in Croghan, District 14 Country School, and Augustinian Academy.  On September 3, 1960, she married the love of her life, Robert “Earl” Scoville at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Croghan with Rev. Reginald Bailman officiating.  Judy raised her family and worked as a school bus driver and monitor in the cafeteria for Copenhagen Central School for more than 30 years.  She also worked for the Widrick family at Deere Hill Restaurant for 10 years during the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. 

Along with her husband Earl, Judy enjoyed hosting many events and occasions at their home through the years, including a wedding, birthday and anniversary parties, engagement and rehearsal dinners, country school reunions, and Thanksgiving. She also enjoyed attending and dancing to the Nelson Brother’s Band at their events, churning butter, reuben sandwich day at the sugar shanty, and in the past, operating a food truck.

Judy was an active member and volunteer of the Lewis County Memorial Post #6912 Auxiliary and a member of the Croghan American Legion Auxiliary.
