Joshua Sears Graveside Service Obituary

FORT DRUM-Joshua Sears, 42, of St. Joseph, MO, passed away on October 25, 2025.  Joshua was born June 10, 1983, in St. Joseph to Reba Bomar and Rodney Sears, Sr.

Joshua was a warrior.  Right after graduating high school, he immediately enlisted in the U.S. Army.  After basic training in Georgia, he went on to serve for 13 years in Fort Drum, NY.  He served four tours in the Afghanistan/Iraq War, achieving Sergeant status by the end of his enlistment.

He returned to live in St. Joseph, where he met his beloved Alicia Brashears who he spent the last eight years of his life with.  He was  proud employee of Altec Industries.

He is preceded in death by his son Brayden Ashton Sears, his sister Jodi Kay Sears, uncle David Sears, grandmother Reba Goodwin; and grandfathers, John Goodwin and Earl Sears

Survivors include his daughter McKenzie Sears, son Jaxson Sears, and their mother Renatta of Carthage, NY; mother Reba (Danny) Bomar; father Rodney (Laura) Sears; grandmother Judy Sears;  siblings Rodney Sears and Amanda Decker; many aunts, uncles, two nieces, cousins, and friends.

Burial with full military honors will be held at Black River Cemetery in Black River, New York at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026 with Pastor Wayne Arnold officiating.
