GLENFIELD- Joseph G. Mooney, 73, of Schoolhouse Road, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening July 18, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Calling hours are from 2-4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc.  Please follow the phase 4 guidelines and masks are required.  A private funeral service for immediate family will be held at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc. with Pastor Gene Bailey officiating.  Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lewis County Search & Rescue, 7782 West State Street, Lowville, NY 13367.

Joe was born on October 18, 1946, at home in Lyonsdale, NY, a son of the late Jesse and Mildred Rocker Mooney.  On February 22, 1975 he married Paula J. Cobb in Port Leyden, NY.  Together they raised three very loving children, a daughter, Penny (Jay) Ames of Glenfield; a son Jesse (Jennifer) Mooney of Glenfield; and a son Robert (Laura) Mooney of Glenfield; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  In addition to his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he is also survived by four brothers, Richard (Mona) Mooney of Port Leyden; Ted (Darlene) Mooney of Port Leyden; Jerry Mooney of Port Leyden; Keith (Nancy) Mooney of Port Leyden; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Mooney of Port Leyden; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He is predeceased by two brothers, Vernon and Kenneth Mooney; two sisters, Susie Houghton and Mary Lou Wearne; two sisters-in-law, Marilyn “Pat” Mooney and Connie Mooney.

Joe attended country school in Lyonsdale, Port Leyden and South Lewis.  After which he spent his life logging with his brothers, then later with his children, retiring for health reasons.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his one real passion was spending time with his family playing cards.

Joe’s family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Lewis County Search & Rescue, the New York State Troopers, Lewis County Sheriff’s Department and Iseneker Funeral Home for their kindness and support.  We are very thankful.
