Joanne E. Kloster

LOWVILLE/CROGHAN-Joanne E. Kloster, 71, formerly of Kirschnerville Road, passed away Sunday evening, August 4, 2024 at Lewis County General Hospital, Lowville.  She has resided at Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility for the past year.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Jaime Kloster of Castorland; two grandchildren, Colton and Peyton Kloster; a brother, Ronnie Kloster of Castorland; a sister, Brenda Kloster of Leicester; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.  Joanne is predeceased by four brothers, James Kloster, Richard Kloster, Jerry Kloster and Andy Kloster; two sisters, Judy Kloster; and Rosemary Kloster who died at age 5; and a sister-in-law, Sheila Kloster.

Joanne was born on October 5, 1952 in Lowville, NY, a daughter of the late Leander and Elizabeth Briot Kloster.  She graduated from Beaver River Central School in 1970.  Joanne worked cleaning house for Jingles Marilley for a year and then worked at Beaverite in Beaver Falls until they went on strike (in the early 80's).  She went to work as a cleaner on Fort Drum cleaning the barracks.  From there Joanne worked in the Laundry at LCGH, then in 1986 went to work at NYS DOT in Lowville, retiring in 2006. 

Joanne was a Communicant of St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Croghan.  She  enjoyed gardening, walking, and especially enjoyed reading.  Joanne's family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Doctors and Nurses at Lewis County General Hospital and the 3rd floor Staff of the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility.

Many of her friends and co-workers knew her as "Josh." When she was with a group of people, she was always the outgoing one with her witty personality and smart aleck comments. Everyone that met "Josh" loved her. She loved her friends and family, especially her grandchildren. The last few years of her life were tough on her but she always had a positive look on life. She was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by so many. 

A prayer service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc. With Rev. Donald Manfred, Pastor of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, officiating.  There are no calling hours.  Burial will be in St. Vincent DePaul Cemetery, Belfort, immediately following the prayer service.  After the burial, there will be a Celebration of Life gathering at Belfort Inn, all are welcome.  Any food donations may be taken directly to Belfort Inn on Saturday starting at 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Stephen's Catholic Church Restoration Campaign, P.O. Box 38, Croghan, NY 13367.
